Heading out onto the open waters and sailing the Caribbean this summer is a great way to relax and soak up some sun on the beaches of a lovely tropical paradise. There’s plenty of beautiful locales to choose from, but one of our absolute favorites is St Vincent and The Grenadines. It’s long been a port of call for many affluent travelers and is one of the best escapes from the overly crowded tourist traps that so many of the Caribbean islands have devolved into over the years.
Needing a little escape from the mundane? Here are some of our favorite places to go and things to do in St. Vincent and The Grenadines:
- Bequia Island
- One of the most relaxing places with some of the most beautiful tropical beaches in the world is without a doubt Bequia Island. You can stop by Frangipani to grab a drink and possibly rub shoulders with some of the celebrities that frequent the bar. Of course spending some time lounging around the beach or taking a swim is a must, but sipping a cocktail and watching the waves roll in is a great way to wash away the cares of the ‘real world’ for a few days and get into the island mindset.
- Tobago Cays Wildlife Preserve
- If you’re a fan of getting acquainted with nature and don’t mind getting a little wet, then Tobago Cays is an absolute must. You’ll be able to swim the crystal clear waters with some breathtaking wildlife, like endangered sea turtles and spectacular stingrays that most people will never have the chance to see outside of an aquarium. Spending a day exploring the reefs with a snorkel and seeing all of the marine-life in its natural habitat makes for an unforgettable and unique experience that is sure to make you forget about work for a while.
- Relax and Explore
- The best part about spending time in the Caribbean is how time seems to become irrelevant and life just flows at its own pace. Walking through the market in Kingstown, visiting different rum shacks on the beach, and just randomly meeting other travelers and possibly even celebrities that are all just unwinding, relaxing, and enjoying life is one of the destinations greatest draws. Of course there are spas and luxury accommodations available as well, so you won’t be roughing it by any stretch, but the most important thing to remember is to just slow down and take it all in before having to head back to the hustle and bustle of the ‘real world.’
