Behold: the Golden Cristal Ube Donut
It’s literally dripping in gold (yes! real, 24-karat gold), making it the most luxurious donut known to man. It’s served at the Manila Social Club in Williamsburg, NY and made by hand by executive chef and owner Bjorn DelaCruz.
While the Social Club specializes in Filipino cuisine and brunch, they’ve really made a name for themselves by crafting some pretty amazing donuts – the most impressive being their Golden Cristal Ube Donut.
This donut is just one of Social Club’s exclusive “Ube Bae Donuts“, and because it’s dusted in 24-karat gold leaf, it certainly doesn’t come cheap. Just one of these luxury breakfast pastries costs $100. But if that doesn’t stop you from trying one, you’ll get to sink your teeth into an infusion of creamy vanilla and Ube, a sweet purple yam that grows native in the Philippines.
The Ube is not only used for the donut itself but the icing as well. It makes it super light with the perfect mouth-feel.
And, if this doughnut weren’t already worthy of a King, Cristal champagne is used for both the icing and filling. Its truly luxury on a plate.
