To most people, a good night’s sleep is priceless. There is nothing better than waking up well-rested and ready to take on the day. It’s all about the quality and construction of the bed you sleep on, though. There are some beds that take this to a whole new level, making sure you have the very best sleep that money can buy. You know what they say, you get what you pay for.
Drift away on the world’s most expensive mattresses:
- Royal Pedic: $3,000 – $9,000
- Sleeping on a cheap mattress can be a royal pain but Royal Pedic has you covered with a line of mattresses that range from $3,000 to $9,000. The high-end mattress company got its start selling mattresses to the elite, from actors and actresses to presidents. It first opened in Los Angeles, California in 1946.
- Still today, Royal Pedic uses only the highest-quality materials and skilled craftsmanship for its mattresses. All their models are made entirely of cotton, are hypoallergenic, and made by hand.
- Duxiana: $13,000
- Duxiana makes one of the most comfortable most expensive mattresses you can buy. Comfort, of course, is very important when it comes to mattresses because waking up to change positions is one of the biggest reasons people’s sleep gets interrupted. And, we all know what it’s like to wake up in the morning with back pain from sleeping on an uncomfortable mattress.
- The DUX is just one of Duxiana’s models they’ve created with posture and alignment in mind, ensuring your spine stays in line with your shoulders and hips so that you never experience pains or aches in the morning due to your mattress. The price of comfort and support doesn’t come cheap. One of these DUX models sells for $13,000.
- Hypnos: $15,000
- The family-owned British mattress company Hypnos has been making quality mattresses for four generations. Since 1904, they’ve specialized in handcrafted pocket spring beds that they say are “the most comfortable beds in the world.”
- They also boast that their mattresses are of such great quality they are selected for use in palaces, hotels, and yachts around the world. Made in Buckinghamshire, Hypnos mattresses have an extensive royal heritage – since 1929 they’ve held Royal Warrants and feature the prestigious Royal Stamp of Approval.
- For about $15,000, you can try out the Hypnos bed at home.
- VI Spring: $20,000
- The next mattress on our list is made by VI Spring. For more than 100 years, the company has been handcrafting luxury mattresses, and they offer an extensive collection that ranges in softness and firmness.
- In case you’re wondering where the company’s name comes from, “VI Spring”, all mattresses have six coils, hence the Roman numeral VI. What do you get when you buy a $20,000-dollar VI Spring – a bed that’s made to order, and, made entirely by hand in an extensive process that includes making the springs, hand-nesting each pocket spring, hand-stitching the mattress, selecting and assembling the finest natural fillings, applying tape edging, hand-tufting, and crafting the frame and headboard.
- Kluft: $30,000
- While Kluft hasn’t been around quite as long as some of the mattress companies on this list, it has become a world-leader in the luxury mattress industry. Starting in 1986, Kluft mattresses have been built by hand and made to last 10 to 15 years.
- Each of their mattress collections provide the best support through either coils, foam, or a latex core, and they utilize the highest-quality natural materials including cotton, wool, cashmere, horsehair, and mohair.
- Would you pay $30 grand for the perfect night’s sleep? Well, if so, the Kluft might be a perfect fit for you.
- Hastens: $67,000 – $200,000
- The Swedish-based mattress company, Hastens, has been in the business of crafting excellent beds for over 150 years. Each one is hand crafted and requires a minimum of 150 hours to build. Only high-quality materials are used, including wool, cotton, horsetail hair, and layers of flax.
- Something that makes Hastens unique is their 10-turn pocket spring system. Each spring is connected together using a durable yarn, and flax is placed between them so no creaking sounds are created with movement.
- For this type of quality, Hastens mattresses run between $67,000 and $200,000 but they do guarantee them for 25 years. Currently, Hastens is constructing their Vividus model for the Regent Seven Seas’ Splendor, and it’s estimated to cost around 200K. It will be one of the world’s most expensive beds ever made.
- Floating Bed: $1.6M
- What’s the most expensive mattress you can buy? The answer: the floating bed from Universe Architecture. Created by Dutch architect Janjaap Ruijssenaars, the floating bed gives you the illusion you are weightless, drifting off to sleep on a cloud.
- Essentially, this bed really is a magnetic hover bed, and it’s a work or art to look at, with the capability of hovering 16 inches above the ground. The bed actually floats so it is tethered to the ground.
- But don’t worry, this bed will safely hold up to 1,500 pounds. The research and development to make this bed took seven years which is ironic because it also costs seven figures – $1.6 million to be exact.
