Miami Beach is certainly one of the hottest destinations on the East Coast, and people flock to it to soak up the Florida sunshine, enjoy the beautiful beaches, and experience some of the hottest nightlife in the world. With new bars popping up all the time in the city, getting your buzz on isn’t hard to do. However, there are some locations that are so fabulous, they have earned their place in the city. These are 7 of the hottest places to grab a drink in Miami Beach:
Located on Washington Ave, Employees Only started out as an award-winning New York City bar that decided to open its doors in Miami Beach in 2017. Today, the trendy bar located inside the Washington Park Hotel is just the place to grab Prohibition-style drinks, upscale bar food, or a psychic reading. Two of their best cocktails include the Billionaire, made with Bakers’ bourbon, lemon juice, EO grenadine, and absinthe bitters; and the Mata Hari, a mix of chai-infused Martini Rosso, pomegranate, and Rémy Martin 1738.
Voted one of Playboy 2016’s best bars in America, Sweet Liberty is a hotspot for great food and drinks. The masterminds behind the bar are restaurateur David Martinez, Dan Binkiewicz from Blackbird Ordinary, and world-class bartender John Lermayer. Before you leave here, you must try their Air Mail, a potent mix of rum, lime, honey, and bubbly and the Pink Chihuahua, a Tequila Ocho, almond, lime, pomegrenade, and egg white combo.
Gin + Collins
Located on Collins Ave, Gin + Collins is a posh bar in the AC hotel in Miami Beach that takes their gin and tonic seriously. You’ll find a total of six combinations of gin, tonic, and garnishes to re-experience the classic Spanish drink in a whole new way. Two of their favorite gins they like to use are the classic Hendricks Gin and the Florida-made Prescribed Spirits Gin. Try: The Cali, a A spicy and citrusy G&T made with St. George Botanivore Gin and Fever-Tree Tonic, garnished with allspice berries, plus lemon and orange peels; The Detox, Hendricks Gin with the aromatic, low-cal Indian Tonic, Mastiha liqueur, cucumber and fennel syrup, and the Green Gremlin, Zesty Botanist Gin combined with citrusy Fever-Tree, Tonic Green Chartreuse, rosemary syrup, and basil.
Ricky’s on 16th street is a one-stop shop for excellent drinks, pizza, live music, and arcade games. Ricky’s is all about having fun and being laid-back, with drinks like the Snowflake’s Revenge, a Zacapa and orange cocktail, The Walking Dead, Bacardi rum, apricot liqueur, papaya, pineapple, and tiki bitters, and the 16th Street Mule, a mix of Absolut Elyx, lime, and homemade ginger beer. Plus, they offer over 150 whiskey varieties and a great beer menu.
For almost two decades, Purdy Ave has been home to the famous Purdy Lounge, previously called “Durdy Purdy”. What’s distinctive about Purdy Lounge is its retro look, eclectic mix of music, and tasty cocktails crafted by mixologist Tommy Merolla. Their latest creations include the bright yellow Pegu, made with simple syrup, lemon, egg white, and Earl Grey Tanqueray and the Coco Plum, a Woodford Bourbon combined with plum bitters and coconut ice cubes.
Unless you know where to find Nina’s House, you’ll probably miss it. This cocktail joint is hidden away in the Confidante Hotel’s backyard, a single-family home that was transformed from fitness center to Mediterranean cottage. Its low, romantic lighting, vintage Havana-style decor, and limestone fireplace make the bar unique. Two of their specialty cocktails include the Globetrotter, a watermelon and gin combo and the Spicy Nina, a concoction of pineapple, apple, and rum.
The Broken Shaker
Since its birth in 2012, The Broken Shaker has become one of Miami Beach’s most popular bars. Far from your typical glitzy bar, The Broken Shaker is quite eclectic with twinkling lights, ping-pong tables, and mismatched patio furniture. The focus is really on great drinks and great bar food. A few of our recommendations are the Daily Punch, a mezcal based drink with rosemary and refreshing citrus and their classic sangria. If you find yourself craving a snack, try their artichoke fries with spicy herbed yogurt, fish tacos topped with mojo crema, or the double cheeseburger with Miami Smokers bacon.
